Mission Statement

The mission of the Philadelphia Elementary School Counseling Program is to provide all students with equitable access to a proactive and comprehensive school counseling program that serves all students in their academic opportunities, socio-emotional growth, and college and career exploration. In collaboration and partnership with parents, community, and other stakeholders the school counseling program provides whole student supports that empower character, integrity, and resilience. Through a data-driven and multi-tiered multi-domain system of support our program supports the mastery of the student mindset & behavior standards that ultimately lead them all to be successful life long learners who are prepared academically for future levels of their education.

Philadelphia School Counseling Beliefs:

  • All students have a right to a safe and supportive learning environment where they believe in their ability to succeed.
  • School counselors must advocate on behalf of their students using data driven and evidence based interventions as well as giving open access to a comprehensive school counseling program.
  • When students are given appropriate support they can work and achieve their long term goals.
  • The American School Counselor Association ethical standards should guide the work of the School Counseling Program and School Counselor.
